*Note: This is not an information session on applying to specific graduate programs.

Are you thinking of applying to graduate programs in the arts, humanities, and social sciences and/or education? Are you overwhelmed by the application process? Come join your peers and learn how to write an effective curriculum vitae and personal statement.

Writing an Effective Curriculum Vitae (CV)

In this workshop, we will focus on effective CV writing for Master’s programs in arts, humanities, social sciences, and education. Specifically, we will discuss CV categories, formatting, and content. We will also share online resources and sample CVs. You may choose to bring a draft CV or a resume to receive feedback from your peers.

Writing an Effective Personal Statement

July 11, 2019

In this workshop, we will focus on effective personal statement writing for Master’s programs in arts, humanities, social sciences, and education. You may choose to bring a draft statement and/or a copy of personal statement requirements requested by the graduate programs you are applying for to receive feedback from your peers.

Peer Feedback: CV & Personal Statement  

August 14, 2019

This workshop prioritizes students who attended one or both of the previous workshops. We will workshop and provide peer feedback on your draft CV and personal statement.

Registration is required. The registration form will be available on July 31, 2019.

Refreshments will be provided! Vegan, gluten-free options available.

Wheelchair accessible. Accessible all-gender washroom located on the same floor as the event room.

TTC Tokens are available upon request.

If you require ASL interpretation to attend the workshop on June 6, 2019, please contact us by May 31. For all other workshops please notify us 14 days in advance from the date of the workshop.

About Students for Barrier-Free Access (SBA)

Students for Barrier-Free Access (SBA) at the University of Toronto is a disabled and mad student led non-profit that works from a Disability Justice framework. SBA advocates for equity, access, and the removal of barriers to access in post-secondary institutions, at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  SBA operates a drop-in centre with bookable a study/meeting room, an accessible computer lab, and a social space for students and community members. Through our campaigns, programming, workshops, and events we challenge systemic ableism and barriers to accessing post-secondary education.
